Today turned out to be a much better day than yesterday and better than the 730 start promised. It was a grey and drizzly start at Islares when we left. But within a few km it had brightened and so it was shorts and teeshirt. Our little group wad following the road today apart from a short 1km section off road.
1st section... Islares to Liendo was 12.29km where had a coffee in the suburb of Mollaneda..with a grumpy cafe owner. Quite different to yesterday's 1st coffee in Onton..that guy was great.
2nd section today was 7.11km into Laredo. By following the roads we had a well graded surface that took us up over the passed gently. The city of Laredo soon appeared as we over the last pass..and the view was spectacular.
A huge 5km beach.
Golden sand.
At a beach.
It was overcast.
What else?
In the city we wandered around after a coffee and found a C13th church that was lovely to wander around. You could see a lot of the 16thÇ alterations. .fantastic.
Down in town I saw a horse drawn hay cart at the traffic lights ...I wasn't expecting that!
By the time we had lunch in Laredo..the sun was out and it was beautiful.
3rd section was 7km long..from Laredo along the beach for 4km...then a ferry ride to Santona followed by 2km to the youth hostel. It is full so we are in tents outside. Bizarre but cool.
