Goikolexia

Try and pronounce that! It is my lunch stop after 17km. A few spots of rain so I will eat while walking.

Now..where was I ? Oh yes...quite a walk to that town...3hrs30 I think it was.

I forgot to mention that last night in Gernika was great. .Picassos town.

I am surprised that my feet are coping o.k....a few blisters now...all covered but sore. It's mainly the road walking that kills them. About km on roads before lunch and 7km on roads after lunch. That got me to Lazuma where the albergue was not open yet..another 2 weeks. That meant I was faced with 2.5km over a hill and then 6km on roads into central Bilboa. ..or since I was already on the outskirts of the city I grabbed a train ride in the centre. Not knowing what the old part of the city equates to which metro station meant I popped up and down like a meerkat at the stations...popping one blister most successfully...yuk in my shoe.
I talked to a security guard at the closed visitor info place and he pointed me in the right direction for both the old town and cheap accommodation. I walked 100m and found a great little hotel overlooking the river. My view is great.

I unpacked..got washing ready...updated my status on Facebook so the girls will know that i had arrived safely when they wake up... and had a quick shower.  When I got I couldn't believe the difference. ..major thunderstorm overhead with torrential rain and flash flooding.  I was so pleased to be indoors.  Poor peregrinos still trudging.

It's now 1745 (345 in NZ.) and I have just had a kebab and I'm off to explore the old city.
