Santander day

It was good to have a day to sort things out and have break. It was a rest day. ..great because it rained most of the day.
My feet have needed a rest and the difference is amazing.
Santander has  been as exciting to explore as Bilbao but good fun nevertheless.
Yesterday evening I helped one of the young ones choose a pack at Decathlon...one of the biggest sports stores  I have ever been in.  We got the pack and I got a lite weight sleeping bag. .600g...to replace my bag. It hasn't been that cold at night and I'll have 1kg less in my bag. I sent my bag home by post this afternoon.

3 of us moved from the Alburgue this morning to a small hostel in the same area. Better facilities and nicer surroundings make for a more peaceful night. There are 4 beds in my room...compared with 50 last night.

Chris heads back to the UK tomorrow and it will be sad to see him go home...he has such a quick and perceptive sense of humour.

Bobby and I walk on tomorrow and will aim to cover about 30km. A number of people have arrived to start their camino from here in Santander and one german lass from Bavaria may join us tomorrow as we try to catch some of our group from the last few days.

I spent a bit of time at the nearby cathedral exploring. ..the crypt...the Basilica. ..the cloisters. The church has also recovered roman building s underneath. ..so it it was a powerful plsce. Some of their art works were very challenging.

We went back to last night's restaurant for a lovely meal before coming back to repack for the walk tomorrow.
