I caught the metro thru to Portugalete and then walked from there to Pobena. 13.5km on concrete paths and cycleways apart from the last 1km on sand and grass. It was great walking at just over 2.5 hrs but very easy to lose pace when walking by yourself. I am now up to 185km and the possibility of actually making it the whole way to Santiago is dawning on me.
I caught Bobby from Arizona up at La Arena and we had time for a recovery drink before the albergue opened at 2.
By 240 the 26 beds had gone and people are being turned away. Tomorrow is 17km so another easy ish day, but Santiago won't arrive by diddling around.
The group I started with in Irun has separated somewhat. ..4 are here tonight.. the rest seem to be from 1 day ahead. Quite a few have had 2 nights in Bilbao and like me really enjoyed the break.
Everyone's guidebook is a little different with different details and distances for the same section. I am enjoying using 'My Tracks' and it gives me a good GPS based record. The German and Austrian guides are most sort after to compare and contrast to other guidebooks.
Well, time to go exploring.
Manana.
